The Seaglider Fabrication Center offers four products: Deepgliders, Seagliders (to UW customers only), Refurbishment and Repair services, and Pilot Training.

Deepglider: Capable to 6000m operating depth, Deepglider is the latest in glider technology. This vehicle can profile to full ocean depth, and cross strong currents like the Gulf Stream directly without losing distance along track. It carries a Seabird Electronics (SBE) conductivity and temperature sensor pair, as well as pressure sensor and altimeter transducer, forming the basic package for measuring seawater properties and stratification. It also can be outfitted with an Aanderaa Optode dissolved oxygen sensor, and a WET Labs fluorometer and backscatter sensor (Chl-a, 700nm, 435nm) as desired by the customer.

Seaglider™ : All Seagliders come with a Seabird Electronics (SBE) conductivity and temperature sensor pair, as well as pressure sensor and altimeter transducer, forming the basic package for measuring seawater properties and stratification. In addition, a SBE model 43 oxygen sensor, and a WETlabs model BB2F optical backscatter and chlorophyll fluorometer are available with a standard glider. Other sensors additions may be made by the user.

Refurbishment and/or Repair: This consists of various levels of service for components of your glider, including battery replacements, sensor calibrations, and replacement of disposables (e.g., anodes, orings, etc.). Depending on the condition of some systems, we may recommend upgrades, repairs/replacements of other parts as well, or you may request those.

Pilot Training: A full week of "pilot" training is important to safe and effective operation of a either vehicle and is requested of all new glider purchasers. The training is held in Seattle at the time your first glider is ready for delivery and includes actual deployment, piloting, and recovery in Puget Sound before it is shipped to your institution or company.
