Seagliders are capable to 1000 meters depth and designed to measure basic water properties autonomously for up to 9 months on one set of batteries. They carry a variety of sensors including a Seabird Electronics conductivity and temperature sensor pair as well as pressure sensor and altimeter transducer. In addition it can carry a SBE model 43 oxygen sensor, an Aanderaa Optode model 4831 oxygen sensor, many versions of WET Labs ECO model sensors for backscatter and fluorometry, and a variety of other serial-communicating sensors.
Due to a license agreement with Kongsberg Underwater Technologies, Inc. (KUTI), UW-SFC can only produce Seagliders for customers inside the University of Washington. If you don't have a UW budget number for purchasing a Seaglider, please contact Rich Patterson at KUTI to discuss your needs and request a quotation.
